EAS meets the strictest international standards of the naval and offshore industry for safety areas, environment and health.
Environment
Sustainable development is more than a concept for EAS.
For the company, Environmental sustainability is a solid ethical principle that seeks to equate respect for the environment with a commitment to the socioeconomic growth and development of Brazil.
In order to safeguard this principle, Atlântico Sul runs a set of programs:
Solid Waste Management Program
Aiming to meet environmental sustainability criteria, EAS adopts waste reduction practices at the generating source and disposes of its waste to a chain of receivers, where it is considered an input for other production chains outside the company, reinforcing the circular economy and contributing to the creation of employment and income.
Program for the Determination of the Acute and Chronic Toxicity of Effluents from the Dry Dock Operation
Atlântico Sul adopts strict control of naval operations during activities in the dry dock, performing environmental monitoring of the waters discharged into the estuary, meeting the highest standards of excellence and environmental safety
Eco-efficiency program
More important than reducing inputs, raw materials and waste generation is to think about the production cycle in a sustainable way, evaluating the sources of consumption and losses in the production processes, seeking to optimize natural resources and contributing to an eco-efficient process, resulting in the commitment of the whole company to operational excellence and sustainability.
Health
Atlântico Sul believes that quality of life and healthy individuals promote better performance and results. Therefore, the company continuously invests in health programs, that establish prevention-related practices with all employees.
Additionally, in order to ensure that care goes beyond physical health, EAS adopts a mental health program in its daily routine, in which employees are offered an individual listening service in which not only processes and the environment are discussed, but also the individuals themselves.
All these programs aim to promote a culture of health, promoting quality of life to the worker and contributing to their safety, high productivity and operational excellence.
Security
People are the most important asset of EAS, that’s why everyone’s safety is so important in the day-to-day running of the company. Proof of this commitment, safety performance is now deemed the global standard for its area of expertise.
In order to ensure the safety of its employees, the company adopts a program involving the 3 main pillars (People, Process and Environment) that, integrated, contribute to avoid accidents. And it also works by acting strongly on behavioral signals, by implementing best safety practices and promoting regular awareness campaigns, so that the culture of safety is present in every individual who works in the company.
Social Responsibility
Atlântico Sul is strongly committed to transforming the social reality in Brazil, particularly in the Northeast of Pernambuco. Notwithstanding the strong economic impact that the company brought to the region with professional training, the jobs and direct and indirect taxes associated with its activity, EAS has always sought to go further, acting directly in transformative actions in the regions surrounding its operations.
Over more than 10 years, several institutions have benefited from programs focused on education, environment and social welfare. Highlights include those directed at education, such as Educar, aimed at improving teaching in public schools in the town of Ipojuca; and Nas Ondas da Leitura, a traveling library with the objective of stimulating the habit of reading among the surrounding residents and students from the municipal school system of the same city. In the environment, the Environmental Education stands out, focused on building a culture of sustainability in the Suape Complex region.
In recent years, with significant engagement from its collaborators, the community action of EAS dedicated attention to the Community of Rurópolis de Cima, located in the town of Ipojuca and with approximately 200 families. Community contemplated with numerous actions aimed at health, education and leisure.
